Description
Serves as the Technical Referent for Protection activities in the area. Supports the Protection Team Leaders and ensures Technical quality in all Protection Interventions under the guidance of Specialists and the Deputy Protection Coordinator.
In close collaboration with the Protection Coordinator, provide technical guidance and advice to protection field teams ensuring that specific components of the program are delivered according to internal guidelines and in line with international standard

**Tasks**
**Definition of the strategy and implementation**
- Coordination and support:
- Contribute to the protection strategy development process of the mission and provide technical support and assistance to its implementation
- In coordination with the Deputy / Protection Coordinator, support to contextualize and adapt internal and global guidelines, guarantying these are rolled out and known by staffs
- Ensure cohesion and harmonization of protection activities and services across the different projects in the area location
- Ensure Guidelines of the HQ Protection unit and the SOPs developed at mission level are disseminated to all Protection staff and the standards are duly followed
- In coordination with the Deputy/Protection Coordinator, deliver trainings and workshops to protection staffs to build their skills on specific protection topics identified with them
- In coordination with the Deputy/Protection Coordinator, assess protection needs and gaps of target populations in current and prospective areas of operations, periodically update the protection situation analysis and inform the program accordingly
- Support the Protection Coordinator in providing ongoing strategic protection analysis and development of periodic trend reports (including aspects of conflict analysis, gender, and risk management) and lessons from program experience to inform program development, implementation and policy/advocacy work
- Under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator, undertake regular field monitoring visits and provide support tools to monitor quality of program implementation
- Develop tools for Monitoring of Protection activities and Interventions and work on developing analysis of findings that contributes to improving technical quality
- Coach and mentor the team leads to develop their technical expertise in delivering Protection interventions to the highest standard ensuring quality
- Identify opportunities for new protection interventions and support assessments and developments of new project proposals
- Support the Protection Coordinator in the development of complaints mechanisms for beneficiaries and make sure complaints are addressed properly
- Technical Quality:
- In coordination with the Deputy/Protection Coordinator and/or Specialists, organize ad hoc protection meetings with protection staff in the area to share challenges and priorities and develop action plans to address them
- In coordination with the Specialists, ensure all training and guidance given by the Specialists are followed by the Protection team
- Work with the Protection Team Leaders to ensure capacity building needs of the field teams are identified and addressed through regular training and coaching
- Regularly verify the status of the case management data area, Protection monitoring data, Legal data area, and conduct case reviews and provide feedback to the Team Leader and Workers;
- Organize regular and ad hoc meetings with Team Leaders and Workers, to discuss complex cases and general challenges in their tasks;
- Conduct regular case audits to ensure that cases meet and maintain compliance with established SoPs and minimum standards
- Organize regular meetings with the focal point of partner agency, to discuss general challenges in their tasks and identification of protection cases;
- Ensure Referral Pathways are developed and regularly updated, and good relations are built with referral agencies
- Review data and information collected during protection implementation and compile regular protection reports highlighting gaps, concerns, and trends to inform future programming;
- Ensure MHPSS integration in all Protection activities
- Ensure Protection monitoring data is analyzed and feeds into programming through regular meetings with the teams to analyze gaps and Protection risks
- Ensure CASH is provided as per the Guidelines and Do no Harm approach is followed through rigorous Risk assessments
- Provide guidance to the CBPOs, in the planning and implementation of participatory community activities, awareness sessions and campaigns and in the general communication with communities
- Networking and Partnerships:
- Maintain collaborative relations with relevant clusters and related working groups at field level
- Attend cluster meetings and other coordination meetings regularly and ensure that the work of Intersos is shared with other humanitarian actors
- In coordination with the Protection Coordinator, ensure that main protection concerns are brought to relevant stakeholders to advocate for respect of human rights and minimum protection standards
**Requirements**
Education
- BA in relevant field (Social Science, Psychology, Social Work, Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law or other fields related to social development and humanitarian work)
- Desirable Master degree (MA) in Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law or related subjects
- Professional Experience
- Minimum of four years of relevant working experience in protection-related sectors, preferably within an INGO, and two years for higher education degree (Masters)
Professional Requirements
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
- Strong theoretical, technical and practical background in protection
