## **The organisation**

Open Cultural Center (OCC) was established in 2016 in response to the European refugee crisis, and now manages cultural centers and residential programs for migrants and refugees in Spain and Greece. We are a small international team united by a commitment to break down barriers to social inclusion for migrants and refugees. We are active and growing, largely due to the support of a large number of volunteers. OCC emphasizes the importance of participation and empowerment, developing autonomy, building communities and intercultural exchange. Our main projects include:

- Socio-educational activities with children and youth
- Education activities for adults
- Women Space
- Transport and mobility projects to connect refugee camps to urban areas
- European Union projects that foster social innovation and exchange of best practices

## **Job Purpose**

Our new Educator position for Open Cultural Center Greece is the person who will take over designing and delivering engaging educational activities that support the personal and social development of children. The role aims to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment while promoting the organization’s mission and values. Through facilitation, mentorship, and collaboration with staff and volunteers, the Educator contributes to meaningful learning experiences that strengthen children´s skills, confidence, and community engagement.

## **Key Responsibilities**

1\. **Educational Program Design and Delivery**

Design, develop, and adapt non-formal education activities for refugee children of diverse ages, languages, and educational backgrounds.Ensure activities are age-appropriate, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive.Prepare learning materials and lesson plans that support children’s personal and social development.

2\. **Volunteer Training and Support**

Train, mentor, and support volunteers delivering educational activities.Develop basic training materials and orientation resources for volunteers.Provide guidance on teaching methods, classroom management, and safeguarding practices.

3\. **Classroom Facilitation and Child Wellbeing**

Facilitate educational sessions and support positive group dynamics. Apply positive discipline and conflict-resolution approaches when needed. Promote inclusion, participation, and well-being of all children in the learning environment.

4\. **Quality and Coordination**

Monitor the quality of educational activities and suggest improvements.Coordinate with staff members and other stakeholders involved in the program.Ensure that all activities comply with child protection and safeguarding policies.

## **Job requirements**

**Required skills, competencies and qualifications**

- Degree in Education, Pedagogy or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English
- Ability to train, motivate, and support volunteers
- Conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to inclusive education
- Sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding principles.
- Legal right to work in Greece (valid work permit or EU citizenship)

**Preferable skills**

- Previous Experience in teaching in non-formal or formal education contexts
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset
- Digital literacy and ability to use online learning tools or digital educational resources.
- Knowledge of Greek is a strong asset

## **What do we offer?**

- Part-time position with a Greek contract (20 hours per week/ afternoons)
- Starting date asap
- Salary of 425 euros/month net for 14 payments, and a holiday period of 5 weeks per year.
- 1-year renewable contract
